Nour El Tayeb
Description
Nour El Tayeb is one of the most consistent female players on the world tour and a flamboyant crowd favourite, known for her acrobatic diving abilities. She has returned to her brilliant best following the birth of her baby daughter in 2021. In the first tournament back after the tour’s six-month suspension because of Covid-19 pandemic, El Tayeb took the 2020 Manchester Open crown, downing Camille Serme in a high-quality final. She then made it to the final of the season-ending CIB World Tour Finals in Cairo, losing out to Hania El Hammamy. El Tayeb also reached the last four of the CIB Egyptian Open, losing out to eventual champion Nour El Sherbini. The Egyptian then announced that she would be taking some time out of the game, as she was expecting her first child with husband, and men’s world No.1, Ali Farag. El Tayeb made her return to the Tour, 14 months after her last appearance, and just five months after giving birth to a baby girl, at the CIB Open Black Ball in December 2021 where she made it to the quarter -finals. Since then, her comeback has been supreme, and she moved to just outside the world’s top 10 come the start of the 2022-2023 campaign. She beat Salma Hany in the Zed Open final in late August, a result that prompted her world ranking to eighth and after reaching the final at the Southwestern Open the following month, she jumped two places in the rankings to come sixth.
