Rowan Elaraby joined the world tour in 2016 and went onto lift her maiden world tour title at the first time of asking. The Egyptian beat Milnay Louw over three games to secure the Gauteng Open at the age of 15. Elaraby then beat Louw once more in her second tournament when she lifted the Keith Grainger Memorial UCT Open to claim back-to-back titles. Four titles in her first two years on the tour saw Elaraby move inside the world’s top 50 for the first time and reached the top 25 of the world rankings in early 2019. Her rise up the rankings continued through the 2019-2020 season, as she broke into the top 16 in April 2020, thanks to some great performances throughout. She started by reaching the semi-finals of the Malaysian Open, before she made another breakthrough. Elaraby started 2021 strongly, with a quarter-final appearance at the El Gouna International, and she followed that by also making it to the last eight at both the Allam British Open and the CIB Egyptian Open, en route to breaking the top ten in the rankings for the first time. She ended 2021 with another quarter-final appearance, this time at the CIB Squash Open Black Ball, before becoming world No.9 for the start of 2022.
