Olivia Weaver
Description
Olivia Weaver is the reigning US national champion after beating Sabrina Sobhy in the final in June. She achieved her highest ranking of world No. 4 in May this year after a series of impressive performances in 2024. In the beginning of the year, she lifted the title of two World Tour Silver events before reaching the final in the Black Ball Open, a World Tour Gold event, in April where she was defeated by Gohar in straight games. Weaver won her first ever world medal, a bronze in Cairo, in May after losing out 3-2 in a tightly contested battle against seven-time Egyptian world champion Nour El Sherbini, a result that prompted her world ranking to the highest ever. She also claimed a spot in the last four of the Qatar Classic in October and was once again sent home by Gohar. In 2022, she was part of the United States team that reached the final of the women’s World Team Championships, the first time the United States had made it before losing to the formidable team Egypt. Weaver reached three finals in the latter part of the 2022-2023 campaign, winning two titles at both the DAC Pro Classic and the Chestnut Hill Classic. The wins helped her to a career-high of world no.7 in March 2023 and she has since become a consistent member in the top 10.
