Tonight in the finals of the Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2011 held in a state-of-the-art glass court erected in front of the Victoria Harbour. Defending champion Malaysia's Nicol David won 7th-in-row included the 2005 World Championships held here in HK. In the women's final, world no. 1 Nicol David defeated Egypt's Raneem El Weleily 3-0. In the men's, the third seed James Willstrop beats Karim Darwish in straight games to win his first title in HK. Annie Au Wing-Chi is outplayed by the current World Champion Nicol David in the glass squash court in front of the Victoria Harbour tonight. Though she has a good start of having the first game up, she finally lost 1-3. After giving a tough and physical game to Annie, Nicol will play against the Egyptian rising star, Raneem El Weleily who beats Low Wee Wern 3-1 in the semis. For the mens, the third seed James Willstrop beats Gregory Gaultier in straight games to gain his ever-first ticket for the final of Hong Kong Open. The other final ticket goes to Karim Darwish who beats Mohd Azlan Iskandar 3-0. Annie Au Wing-Chi makes the history, not once, but twice, after her victory over the world number 5 Rachael Grinham in 5-sets. She is the first Hong Kong player to reach the semi-finals of the Open and it's the first time for her to play in the glass court at Hong Kong Cultural Centre against the famous Victoria Harbour (let's finger cross for a good weather!). First time for Hong Kong to have 2 local players in the quarter-finals of the Open. With the support of the homies, Joey Chan Ho-Ling will join her fellow player, Annie Au Wing-Chi to play in the quarters after defeating the world No. 6 Kasey Brown in straight games. Earlier today, Annie also beat her rival Joelle King in 3-1, who will meet Rachael Grinham, the seed No. 3 and Joey will meet Raneem El Weleily at tomorrow's Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2011. The other big upset today is the straight loss of the world No. 2 Jenny Duncalf to Low Wee Wern. For the mens, Nick Matthew and James Willstrop both advance to the quarter-finals.
