The finals of the Milwaukee Hong Kong Open 2024 on Sunday kicked off with a junior development clinic when about 400 young players and their parents were invited to an exchange activity with the world’s two top players, Mazen Hesham and Rowan Elaraby. The two Egyptians held not only a demonstration with their amazing skills but also invited the participants to the glass court to challenge them.
The clinic was hosted by former Hong Kong, China representative Max Lee Ho-yin with Hesham, the current men’s no.5 and the women’s no.8, Elaraby showcasing their wonderful skills. The two top players then selected five lucky youngsters as challengers to play against them in the glass court and performed the role of referees. The five challengers all received squash balls with players’ autographs and back packs as souvenirs.
On the Hong Kong Open finals day, a mobile “Mister Softee’ vehicle was on site to give out free ice-cream. The young participants all enjoyed tasting the traditional Hong Kong street food after the clinic.
The Squash Association of Hong Kong, China also held squash experience day at the Olympian City 2 during 5-8 December, attracting a lot of people to enjoy the sport. The activity featured mini squash experience and Multiball LED with interactive tailor-made squash games on the TV display. While enjoying the fun of the sport, participants also received souvenirs for their involvement. There were also exhibition panels introducing the development of squash in Hong Kong. During the experience days, people can watch the Hong Kong Open live matches at the venue from 6pm so that they can enjoy the competition featuring the best players from all over the world.
