Four Hong Kong players reach the round two of Qualifying Draw

(29.11.2015) Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2015 debuts today at Hong Kong Football Club, a brand new venue introduced to Hong Kong Squash Open.With all the twenty-nine matches in the Men's and Women’s Qualifying Round One featuring the Hong Kong young players, the home crowds were delighted to witness Vanessa Chu, Yip Tsz Fung, Ho Tze Lok and Tong Tsz Wing advancing to the next round.

With no doubt, Yip Tsz Fug, Hong Kong No.3 male player dispatched his compatriot Henry Leung at a straight 11-5,11-1,11-6 in 20 minutes. He will be facing Mahesh Mangaonkar from India at 2:15pm tomorrow. Yip entered the main event via the wild card last year, “I never passed through to the second rounds in the qualifying evet, I will try my best to grasp a place in the main event this year.” Retaining in a good shape recently, Yip met Mangaonkar once at the Asian Championships this May when he won at a straight which boost his confidence in tomorrow match.

For the women’s event, the Hong Kong No.4 player, Tong Tsz Wing defeated her fellow Ho Ka Wing at a straight 11-6,11- 7 and 11-3 to proceed to the round two. She will be competing against Amanda Landers-Murphy from New Zealand for the main draw position at 3:45pm tomorrow.Two young promising women players followed with Tong Tsz Wing, Vanessa Chu and Ho Tze Lok also made through to tomorrow's second round, beating her fellow Li Sum Yin and Lee Ka Yi respectively.
