Mostafa Asal and Hania El Hammamy claimed their first Hong Kong Open titles

An incredible week of Everbright Securities International Hong Kong Squash Open 2022 came to an end after two thrilling matches were demonstrated in front of the packed crowds, hundreds of spectators witnessed the Egyptian duo Hania El Hammamy and Mostafa Asal crowned at the four sided glass court in Hong Kong Park Sports Centre this year.

Women’s World No.3 Hania El Hammamy beat women’s World Champion Nour El Sherbini by 3-2 (15-13, 9-11, 11-3, 8-11, 11-9) in 89 minutes. It’s the fourth Platinum title of 2022, and the second of the current season for El Hammamy, who played out a high-octane battle with her compatriot El Sherbini.

Asal, the World No.4, overturned a championship ball and came back from two games down to complete a remarkable comeback against Peru’s Elias, winning 6-11, 6-11, 12-10, 11-9, 11-4 after 95 nail-biting minutes. With the scores poised at 2-2 and Elias reeling from that flashpoint, Asal ran away with things in the fifth game to capture his 10th PSA title.

The Prize Presentation Ceremony was followed right after the Men’s final. The Honorable Duncan Chiu, Chairman of Hong Kong Squash, delivered his speech and expressed his sincere gratitude to the government and sponsors for their full support and all the local and overseas working crews for their hard work throughout the week. The Honorable Duncan Chiu along with Mr. Yeung Yun-hung Kevin , GBS, JP, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. William Yeung, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Everbright Securities International and Dr. Karl Kwok, BBS, MH, Chairman of Major Sports Events Committee presented the trophies to the winners in the ceremony. The Everbright Securities International Hong Kong Squash Open 2022 was called to a successful end.
