(24.08.2014) Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2014 debuts today at Hong Kong Squash Centre.
With all the twenty-three matches in the Men's and Women’s Qualifying Round One featuring Hong Kong players, the home crowds were delighted to see Leo Au, Lau Tin Yan, Elise Ng and Ho Tze Lok proceeding to the next round.
With no surprise, Leo Au, Hong Kong No.2 male player dispatched his compatriot Chris Lo in the centre court at a straight 11-4, 11-4, 11-5. He will be facing Shaun Le Roux from South Africa at 3pm tomorrow. “I just stayed focus on the game and played my best of it," said Leo, who has great confidence in tomorrow's match as he is maintaining in a good shape recently. Leo encountered Roux once at the World's Men Championships in 2013 when Roux won in a tough four sets, so an intensive game could be looked forward to.
Two young promising women players Lau Tin Yan and Ho Tze Lok made through to tomorrow's second round, beating her fellow Lee Sum Yuet and Gu Jinyue from China respectively.
Liu Tsz Ling will start her first qualifying match tomorrow at 2:15pm meeting Mariam Mateally from Egypt who beat Choi Uen Shan, another local player in the first round.
